Trouble with the Americans

Things got out of control quickly when an American mob came by the Acasta camp to cause trouble. The men of the Acasta fought valiantly, but being outnumbered 3 to 1 they were no match for the mob.

  1. Mobs! Street fighting! What fun! I have been following and enjoying your series on press gangs. I recently found out that I have an ancestor, William Brock, who was pressed into service in Scotland by the British Navy. Taken off his ship by the French and let go in the American Colonies, William made his way up the Hudson where he married and settled. Later William would go to Canada as a Loyalist and settle in Prince Edward County, Ontario. William had two sons who fought for Canada in the War of 1812. Supposedly, Sir Isaac Brock wrote the family a letter claiming kinship. I enjoyed seeing your crew at Upper Canada Village in 2013, any future plans to venture this far north?

    1. What a cool history! Thanks for sharing it with us.

The next BIG events we'll be doing as a group is Mississinewa in October then the 200th of the Battle of New Orleans in Jan. 2015. I'm hoping we can get up to Canada again soon. Thanks for reading :)
