Acastas line up with the combined crews of HMS Belisarius, Thunderer and Falcon at St. Augustine's 'Colonial Night Watch' event. Hosted at the Castillo de San Marcos, this popular annual event recreates historic Night Watches in garrison towns, where any citizens still on the streets after the gates were locked were required to carry a light so that they could be seen and identified by the Night Watch.

Fantastic! I do love the strong, coquina walls of el Castillo de San Marco. It looks like fun, and I wish I'd made the drive over to see the crew. If this is a recurring thing then I will definitely do so.
ReplyDeleteP.S. The British Colonial Period is only a little earlier than your normal re-enaction period, so that works quite well. I wonder how much of a Royal Navy presence there was in St. Augustine in those days.
